Ten-Minute Workout Tips

Breast Cancer Awareness

Pushed for time? That’s no excuse not to keep fit! Try out these quick and easy fitness tips.

Everybody dreams of a quick and efficient method of keeping fit and losing or maintaining weight – and, more importantly, a way to achieve this goal with a minimal amount of physical activity. Of course diet is important but when it comes to physical exercise the excuse “I don’t have the time” is a common one. The solution? Instead of trying to set aside long exercise sessions arrange a series of ten minute mini workouts instead and try to fit at least one of these in each day. Exercising in the morning is recommended as it gives you a boost for the rest of the day.

DUST OFF THAT FITNESS DVD!

Follow your regular workout DVD for 10 minutes (equivalent to about two upbeat songs).

AEROBICISE TO YOUR FAVOURITE SONGS

Make up your own aerobic routine to a song on the radio or your favourite CD. Don’t be self-conscious!
Who cares how ridiculous you look while in the throes of a song? It’s the end result that matters!

SKIPPING

Easy to do, requires little space and minimal investment. Also good for your cardiovascular system.

RUNNING IN PLACE

Did you know if you run at a moderate pace you can cover a mile in 10 minutes?

BELLY DANCE OR YOGA

Ultimate sources for relaxation and upper/lower body fitness. Not to mention great fun!
Safety while working out is important. A good rule of thumb to follow when exercising is: “If you find yourself gasping for air, you’re probably overdoing it!” Slow down and return to exercising later.

Of course, if you find yourself with more time on your hands you can bolt two or more sessions together.
Remember, 10 minutes A DAY is better than nothing at all!
