We are all aware of the health benefits of yoga, but with classes in gyms always fully booked with toned, flexible, gorgeous people, it is understandable why the beginners amongst us can feel slightly unnerved about giving it a go.
Now newbies need not fear, with the opening of Breeze, The Urban Yoga Company in Beckenham, which specialises in Hot Yoga, Traditional Yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi and Meditation. As a bit of a gym fanatic, I love anything fitness, but have always steered clear of yoga, simply because I thought I would probably entangle myself in, well, myself! But I have now seen the light after joining in with one of the hot yoga classes at the club.
Hot yoga is carried out in a specially designed studio, heated to 42 degrees and each posture is designed to boost health and wellbeing, increasing energy levels, flexibility and strength. The heat in the room allows for the body
to become more flexible and between 600 – 1000 calories can be burned in just 1 session! It was definitely an experience! Be prepared to sweat everything out, but feel absolutely invigorated afterwards. The moves were easy to follow and the structure of the class was fluid, but despite encouragement from the brilliant teacher Naomi, I had begun to flag a little after about an hour (the class is an hour and a half). However, I was not singled out when taking some time out to allow my body to recover and could simply join back in when I wanted.
After a quick shower, my hard work in the studio was rewarded in the spa. Breeze boasts heavenly treatment rooms offering Sundari facial and body treatments, Guinot facial treatments, Leighton Denny Nails, St Tropez Tanning and much more. I had opted for the Sundari Ultimate Journey to Serenity treatment, which combines heavenly massage with Shirodhara, an experience based on ayurvedic healing therapy used for thousands of years. This involves a warm stream of oil being massaged into the hair and scalp to nourish and condition, while imparting deep relaxation.
The experience was out of this world! Breeze is certainly a breath of fresh air, bringing health and wellbeing to the people of Beckenham in contemporary, yet comfortable surroundings.

Late night at the office, out on the town or up early with the kids? Woken up with puffiness around the eyes? Who has time these days to use an eye mask for 15 minutes or lay back with cold metal spoons on your eyes? You need to wake up and go. Clinique have introduced an instantly cooling rollerball that deposits a liquid gel-serum to help massage and refresh puffy eyes on contact, brighten and reduce the appearance of dark circles. Eye area puffiness can result from rubbing, allergies and staring at a computer screen which can allow for fluids to accumulate under the eye area.
The new All About Eyes Serum’s medical grade stainless steel roller-ball allows a rolling motion during application which increases micro-circulation and helps reduce fluid. The formula helps keep skin around the eyes
smoother and less translucent. Formulated by the original dermatologist created cosmetic brand, it is Allergy Tested and 100% Fragrance Free, so eyes receive a hydrated instant pick me up without irritation or aftereffects.
By incorporating Amentoflavone and Humulus Lupulus Extract, unique ingredients with soothing properties, eye area skin is calmer. Caffeine helps reduce the appearance of irritation and puffiness that may have accumulated under the eye area. Packaged in an easy on-the-go rollon applicator, All About Eyes Serum can be thrown into any handbag, clutch or purse for use anytime, anywhere. It can be used alone but is also designed to be layered for
application day or night whenever your eyes need that immediate burst of refreshment. Apply in the morning as an excellent base for makeup and throughout the day as needed.
It can also be used under or over makeup and layered with other eye treatment products. It is allergy tested, 100% fragrance free, oil-free, nonclogging, dermatologist tested, ophthalmologist tested, and safe for contact lens wearers. With a recommended retail price of £20.00, it is available at House of Fraser, Debenhams and all Clinique stockists
