What’s Hot This Season

Since designers paraded models down the spring/summer 2010 catwalk in their underwear the trend for wearing underwear as outerwear has become hotter and hotter. But rather than looking like you are going to a tarts and vicars fancy dress party a flash of mesh or lace is by far the sexier option. Bodies are a great way to carry off the look and being one of the major trends on the high street right now you can take your pick of styles and fabrics. Unstructured bodies in mesh and jersey are great teamed with harem pants whilst boned, corset styles will look great with
high waisted skirts or trousers. Add a blazer if you want to cover your arms or wear your body over a long sleeved top to keep you warm in the forthcoming winter months. Stockings, suspenders and hold ups as outerwear have been
made cool by the likes of Rihanna and of course Lady Gaga. Choose from patterned or plain but when attempting this look your top half should be completely covered and the suspenders should remain the main stay of the outfit.

For those of you who dare team with short skirts, dresses and chunky heels for an innocent but sexy look a la Pixie Lott. Slips, nighties and camisoles can provide the foundations for a glamorous outfit. Most versions available from high street lingerie departments are now often of the quality found on dresses or skirts so look fantastic worn as outerwear. Marks and Spencers have even recently launched their worn to be seen lingerie collection that is specifically designed to be worn on the outside. Select styles in this season’s colour palette of nudes, pinks and black in floaty fabrics like satin and chiffon. River Island has a beautiful cream and black drapey chiffon nightie with
plaited straps – a gorgeous garment that is just too good to keep for the bedroom. For a really subtle approach to this look show brightly coloured/neon bra straps peeking out from vests and tops to add a flash of colour and give a hint of what might be underneath.

Longer line bras also look great worn under this season’s sheer
blouses giving a nod to lingerie as outerwear style as well as being super sexy. If you’re still struggling to get your head around this trend then you could always go for a dress with lingerie inspired detailing such as corset tops, fitted cups or lace features. Stunning and striking you will be sure to get lots of attention for all the right reasons!
